Masterful Living

This is the poem that gave birth to Sonya Kay Blake Gallery. When I read it aloud to friends, one of them said that she would love to be able to share it with friends on their birthdays. Two weeks later, I responded to that invitation by launching this magical virtual gallery space of poetry art prints.
I would love to share with you the journey of how this poem was inspired.
June 20, being my birthday, I gave myself the gift of time and space. I took a few days of work and took myself on my own personal a poetry writing retreat in Ojai.
At first the inspiration was slow in coming, as the intensity of the drive over and the cares of life slowly melted away. And slowly, gently, I fell into the zone where rhythm and rhyme met in my heart and spilled out onto the page in a matter of minutes. And then there it was. A new creation, whole and complete, came through me, not mine per se, but entrusted to me to unleash into form.
I was faithful. I showed up. I cleared the time and space and dropped distraction and resistance. So what was waiting in the silence could emerge and take its place in consciousness.
I imagine that each of us was likewise lovingly created. Could it be that who we are at our essence, has always been, and at just the right moment in time, Creator chose to be a conduit and released us into form, giving us breath and life, then entrusted us to stand were eternal?
Since that day, being the anniversary of my birth into physical form, I have been feeling thankful for the life flowing in, around, and through me, that I was created by my Creator to create. That every day is a new opportunity to re-create myself, my life, and to amplify beauty and grace in the world.
Would like to have this poem as home decor or to share with a loved one as a birthday gift? Now you can.
Please do share this post with someone you think will be encouraged. And read on for more inspiration.
