Life Design as Poetry Art this Autumn
Share
If I were walking past a garden bed with no plant markers to tell me what lies under ground, how would I know what kind of seeds were planted there? I could dig them up and look at them, but that would prevent anyone from getting the benefit of a crop. Or, I could patiently wait until the season when the plant sprouted up and identify the seed from the plant it yielded.
Similarly, if I’m taking an inventory of my life to determine what seeds I have been planting, I can look at what is manifesting in my life and recognize the seeds I’ve sown. This is life design… and it’s one of the many inspirations for my poetry art.
For me, Autumn is a visceral reminder to see what is showing up in my life so that I can become more keenly aware of what I have created, sometimes initiated many seasons prior. I contemplate the various segments of my life and ask myself if I’m where I want to be or what I would like to improve:
1. Spiritual life
- Am I as close to God as I would like?
- Are we in communication and am I growing spiritually?
2. Physical health
- Am I taking good care of my body and mind? How can I do better?
- Relationships
- Are my relationships mutually supportive and uplifting? What truths do I need to say or changes do I need to make?
3. Home
- Does home feel like heaven on earth? If not, what would make it so?
4. Cause
- Am I doing work that I believe in? How can I become more masterful at my work?
5. Money
- Have I implemented a healthy financial structure? Am I building wealth for the future and to leave a legacy?
Autumn, the time of harvest, is the season when I complete my annual life audit, something I revisit on a weekly basis to stay on track, using the Life Wheel app. Each year that I intentionally and mindfully design my life, the wiser I become to plant the good seed I really want to see blooming in the seasons ahead. And the more powerful, confident, and satisfied I become with what I see day by day when I look out at the garden of my life.
I’m working on an autumn collection of poetry art prints that will aptly express this meaningful process and the insights that they bring up. Let’s inspire each other to create our own more and more beautiful individual lives, toward a more and more beautiful world.
