Healing Through Love

I've been reflecting on beginnings. And how I always seem to be starting something new. There are many growing pains that come with this stage of development... the craving for success, the multiplicity of possible pathways to it, and the uncertainty of whether or not the destination will ever be reached.

So many of our neighbors in Los Angeles are facing new beginnings. Thousands have lost their homes to recent wildfires and others are returning to their homes after evacuation. This has mobilized thousands of others to come alongside them in love, providing for their needs and helping to heal their hearts.

We all face new beginnings at one time or another. Growth and development has a cycle with a beginning, middle, and ending. Going with the flow of evolution carries us to higher and higher plateaus and with it comes character and spiritual advancement.

This poem, Begin Again, came to me yesterday. I hope it will help us to see that we are not alone in these ups and downs, and it can help us heal from the pain we experience through it all.

Begin Again

The beginning of things is messy
I don’t know where I stand
I’m always second guessing
Will this be sinking sand

The middle of things is scary
Did I go astray?
Should I go on or turn right back?
I can’t quite see my way

The end of things is balanced
I get my way or not
Laced with regret or victory
I know just what I’ve got

So here we go again
Of this I can be sure
I’m beginning once again
Live life, be insecure

The Life Becomes Poetic Through Love poetry experience on February 8 at 10:30 AM at With Love Market & Cafe in Los Angeles will serve as a community healing event, where we explore the power of love to transform, uplift, and heal. For the contemplatives among us, I invite you to order your reflection journal now on presale. It comes out at the end of the month and will be a beautiful complement to the event if you would like to join us. Until then, be well and stay safe.
